Black Hawthorn Ventures is an independent software company founded in California in 2026. We build focused, purposeful applications.
We are not a venture-backed startup chasing a billion-dollar exit. We are a lean, intentional product company that believes the best software solves one real problem without being overly complex.
Our name comes from the hawthorn, a tree known for its sharp thorns and its delicate flowers. That tension between strength and beauty is what we bring to every product we build. Tough enough to solve hard problems. Simple enough that anyone can use it.

A parent shouldn't need a subscription service to help their kid practice math. A small IT team shouldn't need a six-figure contract to scan their own network. A dojo owner shouldn't need three apps and a spreadsheet to run their school.
We fix that. One product at a time.

CEO and Founder

Black Hawthorn Ventures was founded by a San Diego-based technology professional with over 20 years of experience in enterprise IT, cloud infrastructure, and Microsoft 365 solutions.
After two decades of building and managing systems for organizations of all sizes, our founder turned that expertise inward — toward building products that solve the problems he saw firsthand: gaps in accessible security tooling, the struggle to make math engaging for kids, and the operational overhead facing small community organizations.
Black Hawthorn Ventures is the result of that experience meeting independent ambition. Every product we ship reflects lessons learned from two decades in the field and a belief that great software doesn't have to be complicated or expensive.
